I was building a minecart track on my vanilla minecraft server and i placed a torch on the side of a minecart track and the torch should have appeared right next to it.

and it did but for a brief second it had a black and purple checkered box around it. I found that it appears if you take a torch and try to put on the side of any tile entity

Steps to Reproduce:
1.place any tile entity on the ground
2.place a torch redstone or normal on the side not the top or bottom
3.the torch and in some cases the tile entity will flash black and purple
