Missing "pack.mcmeta" on Mac OSX

      MOD EDIT: Cloned as previous ticket is broken and inaccessible.
      When i open Minecraft there is no sound or musci and when i go to resource packs it says under Default "Missing pack.mcmeta" and I have deleted all files and retried and even redownloaded minecraft from scratch. It doesnt crash just no sounds and wont download them.
