Black Oak saplings will not grow.

I planted 2 Black Oak saplings in an open area (roofed forest biome, same biome as where I found the trees already grown); there was plenty of space for the trees to grow, vertically and horizontally. Placed torches nearby to provide adequate light. After 1 hour or more of play time, the trees still had not grown. Gave myself bonemeal; 1 full stack on each tree did not cause tree to grow.

1. Plant Black Oak sapling in open area in Roofed Forest biome.
2. Place torch nearby sapling, but giving enough space for tree to grow outwards.
3. Wait; or apply bonemeal to sapling.
