What I expected to happen was...:
Sound should be playing during the game.

What actually happened was...:
There is no sound in the game at all. I have also noted exit code -1073740791 showing once I quit the game and go back to the launcher.

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open the Minecraft launcher, login as needed and select Minecraft Java.
2. Select Play.
3. The clicks on the buttons makes no sound. Startup a game and move around - no sound either.

NOTE: My graphics drivers are up to date, I am not running any recording software. House Flipper (1 and 2) and Jurassic World Evolution all function with sound.

FURTHER NOTE: I was able to get the sound working by playing a Youtube video and then opening a Minecraft game/map. When I closed Minecraft, I did not get the crash error. I tried again without playing a Youtube video and no sound again. It's obvious that Minecraft is not locking onto the selected sound options.

FYI, I work in IT with over 25 years of experience and specialising in systems engineering - so I'm pretty sure this isn't my computer that's at fault here.
