You take damage by jumping from a one block height

What I expected to happen was...:
Damage should be taken by falling from a 3 block height

What actually happened was...:
The damage that is usually taken from a 3 block height is instead taken by falling from a single block, while falling from 3 blocks gives you an increased damage
