I found that when starting to break a grass block (or dirt block for that matter), with other dirt blocks behind it with an efficiency III diamond pickaxe, and then before the block finishes breaking, I switch to an unenchanted shovel, the blocks surrounding the selected dirt block will start to break in weird ways as if the pickaxe's enchants are affecting it.
