Gameplay
Hoglins and Zoglins can usually deal inconsistent knockback towards random directions, where sometimes they would knockback you either to the sides, launch you slightly to the air or push you back from their position. This is extremely noticeable when the mob has a high generic.attack_knockback attribute.
Other similar mobs, like ravagers which also have some attack knockback, or iron golems which also deal vertical knockback attacks, don't have this issue, as both of them push the player in a consistent direction.
How to reproduce
- Summon a zoglin, apply a high slowness effect to it.
- Set the attack_knockback of the zoglin to 5.0.
/attribute @e[type=zoglin,limit=1] minecraft:generic.attack_knockback base set 5 - Switch to survival and get closer to the zoglin (or teleport, so player movement isn't a factor).
- Get knocked back by the zoglin and retry a few times.
- Notice how the knockback dealt by the zoglin doesn't push you consistently to the same direction, and can sometimes deal backwards knockback.
Expected result
Hoglins and zoglins would deal the same knockback most of the time, similar to how Iron golems do, as both mob types deal vertical knockback.
Observed result
Hoglins and zoglins deal inconsistent knockback, sometimes with varying height and direction.
