      The Bug

When a pillager breaks its crossbow (possible due to MC-163960; resolved as WAI), it holds its arms and hands in an odd fashion, as if still holding the crossbow. Reloading the world makes the pillager put its hands beside itself as expected.

It would be expected that if the crossbow of a pillager breaks, it would immediately switch to its arms being beside itself.

      How to Reproduce

Note: This issue was inconsistent for me. Keep trying for a few times until you get a pillager holding their hands as shown in the image attached.

      1. Put a pillager with a crossbow (preferably unenchanted) inside of a boat and hop in it yourself while being in Survival mode. The pillager will shoot at you but do no damage.
      2. To make this process faster, enter the command /tick rate 1000. The number can be higher depending on how good your PC is at handling it.
      3. After a few minutes, the crossbow should break. Run /tick rate 20 and then leave the boat. Note how the pillager holds its hands and arms as if still holding a crossbow.
      4. If you reload the world, the pillager will no longer look like it is holding a crossbow.
