Reporting this in case MC-269205 is WAI. (Fixing MC-269205 would block the issue reported here.) When you persistently hold down the left or right click after hovering over certain inventory slots unaffected by MC-265033, the outline disappears despite the item not yet being placed in the slot. This happens immediately upon moving your mouse. Consequently, it affects the following slots:
- Player armor slots
- Player offhand slot
- Enchanting table lapis lazuli slot
Unexpectedly, it doesn't impact the following slots:
- Smithing table template slot (Likely due these slots being animated.)
- Smithing table material slot (Likely due these slots being animated.)
- Smithing table input item slot (Likely due these slots being animated.)
- Loom banner slot
- Loom banner pattern slot
- Loom dye slot
steps to reproduce with enchanting table
- Acquire lapis lazuli
- Place an enchanting table
- Hover over the lapis lazuli slot in the enchanting table with lapis lazuli in player.cursor slot
- Begin pressing and holding the left mouse button
- Move your mouse
Observed: The outline of the lapis slot is concealed even though the lapis lazuli hasn't been placed yet.
Expected: The outline of the lapis slot should remain visible as the item hasn't been placed yet, ensuring consistency with the smithing table and loom slots.
steps to reproduce with armor and offhand slots

- Hover over an offhand or armor slot with the respective item in the player.cursor slot.
- Begin pressing and holding the left mouse button
