The bug
By default, the menu_background.png and menu_list_background.png textures will tile as their scaling method. As of 23w31a, it's been stated that anything in the gui atlas can have its scaling behaviour modified via a mcmeta file (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/minecraft-snapshot-23w31a). However, trying to change the menu_background.png scaling behaviour through a correctly-configured mcmeta has no effect, even if added to the gui.png-atlas.
How to reproduce
- Download and apply the attached resource pack
- Optionally, inspect the contents to verify that the mcmeta is formatted properly
- Observe the UI background
Expected results
The UI background would be composed of one single instance of the texture stretched as to fill the entire screen.
Actual results
It instead tiles to fill the screen, defying what is defined in the mcmeta file.
