Increasing the `minecraft:player.entity_interaction_range` to a significant distance, such as 8 blocks, in order to damage mobs renders the sweeping attack effectively ineffective. It fails to harm nearby mobs surrounding the targeted one, nor does it affect those in close proximity to the player. However, the sound and particles associated with the attack still manifest. It's only when the mob draws nearer to the player that the sweeping attack resumes its functionality.
