Minecraft's font rendering engine seems to put 2px margin at top of every chars. But there are already top padding in Unifont chars and extra 2px top margin makes too much space at the top of the rendered chars. It makes top and bottom spaces are very unbalanced. This problem can be resolved by putting 2px top margin for only non-Unifont chars and 2px bottom margin for Unifont chars. Please see an attached image. It will also resolve MC-265977.
