      The Bug

I first discovered this issue trying to make a mod in MCreator, as I wanted to use the snowball/egg/splash potion sound effect with a throwable item in my mod: the resultant sound effect was that of a bow. The problem seems to stem from Minecraft itself, as vanilla versions of the game (I tested 1.20.1 and 1.20.3pre3) seem to have the same issue when using the playsound command for these items.

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. /playsound entity.snowball.throw ambient @a
      2. /playsound entity.splash_potion.throw ambient @a
      3. /playsound entity.egg.throw ambient @a

Presumably all source types/channels and target selectors also work, I just tested with ambient and @a.
