Mobs that are intelligent enough to search for the player after losing line of sight won't make any error, essentially persuing as if the player was still in line of sight. This means that mobs that "search" for the player aren't really searching, as they already know the location of the player despite giving up when the player escapes view long enough.

To reproduce, build a small confine out of see-through blocks, spawn a mob that is capable of searching like a skeleton or spider inside the confine, obtain chorus fruit, then go into survival and immediately eat the chorus fruit. Look into the confine, noticing that the mob always seems to know where the player is, and can even react to further movements done outside the confine.
