I am running vanilla 1.20.1. However, this bug has been an issue for over a year in my experience and has even made me stop playing the game. I've spent hours and countless resources making and enchanting tools that disappear randomly and permanently.

If you need more evidence, I'll be happy to repeatedly recreate the issue, since it happens every time I try to transfer enchanted items into my inventory.

I have lost countless pickaxes to this bug when I try to move pickaxes into/out of my inventory when using chests and shulker boxes. As you can see in the clip, it appears to be only certain tools/equipment that disappear at random. I initially speculated that it had something to do with specific enchantments, since it was my "silk touch" pickaxes that were disappearing. However, one of the two identically enchanted netherite pickaxes disappeared in this clip.

I also speculated that it might be a specific inventory slot that was bugged. However, as you can see, the items disappear from multiple inventory slots.

Re-logging doesn't work. The items are permanently deleted.

Contrary to your comments from April 2017 on  MCPE-18617 this issue clearly hasn't been fixed so please do not strike this ticket as "duplicative".
