I am having problems with connecting to Minecraft servers on any version.
My friend is hosting a vanilla minecraft server which is unmodified.
I am sometimes able to connect for a moment but then I get instantlly disconnected with error messages.
In the debug window for minecraft it doesn't give me much more information than the errors I gave.
My friends server log also just says I disconnected.
I have looked up the problems and seen that many people get them, I have tried everyones advice but it has never worked.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Minecraft, Java, Java JDK and many other programs.
I have also looked up online what programs cause problems with minecraft and confirmed I don't have them.
I have also seen people have been getting these problems for years now.
There is probably a lot more things that I tried that I can't remember anymore.
internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: incorrect header check
internal Exception: io.netty.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: unknown compression method
internal Exception: io.netty.codec.DecoderException: java.util.zip.DataFormatException: invalid distance too far back
Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.CorruptedFrameException: length wider than 21-bit
When he tried running an modded server, I additionally was getting this error:
The game crashed whilst unexpected error
Error: java.lang.NullPointerException: Cannot invoke "net.minecraft.server.MinecraftServer.m6846()" because the return value of "net.minecraftforge.network.PacketDistributor.getServer()" is null
When using a VPN I also get these problems but less frequently.
While the VPN is on, I tend to also get the following errors:
Internal Exception: java.net.SocketException: Connection reset
Internal Exception: io.netty.handler.codec.DecoderException: java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException: readerIndex(10) + length(8) exceeds writerIndex(15): UnpooledHeapByteBuf(ridx: 10, widx: 15, cap: 15/15)
