The bug
Holding an axe and right clicking on a sign which has been previously waxed will not result in the wax being removed.
This makes it inconsistent with waxed copper blocks, which can be waxed for similar reasons to signs (prevention of unwanted changes to the block). It is also inconsistent with other actions that can be done with signs, such as text dyeing and the glowing effect, all of which are reversible without breaking the sign.
I am not sure if this would count as a feature request - the 23w12a blog post did not mention they could be unwaxed, but also did not mention that not being able to unwax them was intended either. To my knowledge, the ability to unwax signs for malicious or exploitative purposes does not seem like a threat if players can simply break and replace them with their own modifications.
How to reproduce
- Place an unwaxed copper block
- Place a sign
- Apply a honeycomb to both
- Use an axe and attempt to remove the wax from both
Expected results
An axe would remove the wax from both blocks.
Actual results
Only the copper block can be unwaxed.
