I generated a new world with the intention of noodling around with the new archaeology features. I attempted to "/locate biome minecraft:desert" but got a message back saying there wasn't one within a reasonable distance. I teleported 1000 blocks X-positive, tried again and got the same. Attempted again 10,000 more blocks away this time and same result. Again 50,000 more blocks away, which I repeated several times all to the same result.

Unfortunately I promptly deleted the world and generated another one before realising I should have made a note of the world seed or have documented it in some way.

Also, I don't know if this constitutes "bug" but I've been getting some weird world generation such as underground pyramids and other, ineffable oddities. (Seed: 2976631451160215241 location: 1600, 102, 2320  location: 55888, 168, -2239 (the landscape in this entire area is very strange))
