Although used bows can be crafted into dispensers, the recipe book in the crafting table UI doesn't recognize a used bow as a correct ingredient to craft a dispenser.

The dispenser sprite will be outlined in red (instead of green) and clicking the sprite will not auto-fill the crafting table with items from the inventory.
