When applying the new Netherite Upgrade Smithing Template to Diamond Armor with a Netherite Trim, it is possible to create a Netherite Trimmed Netherite Armor (try saying that 3 times fast...). I assume this will be solved soon and is just growing pains of adding a new feature.
