Hold the use key while holding the trident with the riptide enchantment. After waiting long enough, release the use key and press the swap hands key at the same time.
If the timing is right, the player will launch under the effects of the riptide enchantment without losing any durability on the trident.

Same thing happens for ghost items created with MC-154881. This will be much easier to reproduce.
