After playing a hardcore world I found an underwater shipwreck and after eating a golden apple I opened a chest Minecraft freezes and the following happens

The game doesn't open chest UI
Effects go on after timer ends
you cannot drown
time cannot update

This lasts for 5-7 minutes until you magically die from drowning and this affects all game modes (apart from creative and spectator modes)
