Villagers may become unable to forget their workstations, even if you boat them over a thousand blocks away. Because of this, affected villagers will attempt to path their way back to their original workstations. When the villagers can't reach these workstations they act erratically as if they are still attempting to path to them. This also prevents the affected villagers from changing professions.

It should also be noted that this occurs even if the villager has not been traded with. The only way to fix this bug is to physically bring the villager back to the site, destroy the worksite, and then they can gain a new profession. However this is obviously so extremely impractical that the player would be better off grabbing a fresh villager.

I attached a screenshot which shows the problem the "home" is set to my bed which is nearby, however the job site remains unchanged despite being far out of range.

I have been unable to replicate this bug after multiple attempts which means it might be uncommon. However this bug will probably be frustrating to anyone who is affected..
