Villagers currently have no pathfinding logic to enable them to avoid powdered snow, which will kill them. This has been marked as 'works as intended' in the past, but I would like to re-iterate that this is not acceptable functionality. If this were an occasional event it could be reasonable, but as a server owner I can attest to entire villages being exterminated by this mechanic after just a few in-game days. I, as a server admin, should not have to use cheats to keep re-populating villages, and players should not be expected to terraform villages the moment they discovered them so as to remove all traces of powdered snow. Minecraft villages are designed to be self-sufficient with villager harvesting, breeding, and iron golem mechanics, but this behavior completely breaks that game principle and makes villagers helpless and dependent on players for survival.
