Quickly pressing the drop button after switching to another item drops a visual copy of the dropped item and picking it up will temporarily make the item disappear from the inventory

      Quickly dropping after switching to another item will drop the item you switched into but picking it up will make the item invisible in your inventory. Clicking on its inventory slot will make it appear again.
