In quick summary, the volume of events in Minecraft relative to the distance between the observer and the event is a linear relationship, whereas it should be a logarithmic one.

Take a speaker and put it 8 inches from your face, and then move it by one inch to 7 inches in front of your face, there shouldn't be much of a volume difference. Than put the speaker an inch from your ear, and than press it straight to your ear, that volume difference should be much more extreme. In real life, moving away from a speaker would result in a logarithmic decay of volume whereas in Minecraft, walking away from a jukebox (and i believe other events) results in a linear decay
