I noticed that when flying in creative and breaking ice blocks several other blocks also appear to break around me only to be corrected a few frames later.
This is only noticeable when facing south or east because the holes appear in the southeast corner of a chunk (hole appears at chunk coordinates 15/X/15, sometimes in multiple adjacent chunks)
To reproduce repeat what I do in the video attached or read the instructions below

Create a superflat world with preset: "minecraft:bedrock,minecraft:water,minecraft:ice"
Set Chunk Builder to Threaded
Start flying in south or east direction and break ice
You will see the mentioned issue
