Tamed Cat keeps "walking" while placed in the sitting position (Java)

I right-clicked on my Tamed Cat to make it sit, and instead of staying still, the Tamed Cat was walking and hopped onto a crafting table. It did this while it was in the sitting position (which was funny to see, but I do not know how I did it or how to replicate it, sorry.) This is the first and only time I had seen this happen in Minecraft and this was on the Java edition of the game.
