When I try to connect to a server it always is stuck at "Connecting to the server..." and never gives an error message. On the server menu screen, it always says "pinging" and never gives the red arrow as I would expect. I can connect to servers in 1.16.5. This is only an issue in 1.17 and 1.17.1. Therefore, I believe this is a bug in 1.17 and not an issue with my setup.

I've tried:

• Multiple wifis (and making them public/private).
• Firewall on/off.
• Allowing inbound connections.
• Reinstalling minecraft.
• Uninstalling all antiviruses.
• Manually installing java 16 and specifying Minecraft to run in java 16.
• Using a vpn (and without).
