So I started the Minecraft Launcher on September 29th and it started updating, which is normal. Then, I tried to start a 1.17.1 version of Minecraft, but it started redownloading even though I had played on Minecraft 1.17.1 before. I wanted to play on one of my existing worlds, but when I clicked on the Singleplayer button on the main menu, it prompted me to create a new world. I already had about 15 worlds when this happened, so that was strange. But then I went into my .minecraft\saves folder and saw there was nothing there. I'm not sure what happened or if it had something to do with the launcher updating or what.

I attached a video of me clicking on the Singleplayer and Multiplayer options, both empty

      Thank you for reading this.

Edit: There also was no sound when I clicked the buttons, and it wasn't my computer, because other sounds work such as YouTube. It also seems that the minecraft launcher deleted the entire .minecraft folder and redownloaded it to the default state.
