All other right-click actions for shears currently in the game have a sound attached - shearing sheep, shearing mooshrooms, shearing snow golems, carving pumpkins and removing honeycombs from beehives. Due to this, it would be expected that shearing these four plants would emit a dedicated sound and subtitle as well. This, however, does not happen.
