Every time I load minecraft since 1.17 has come out and OpenJDK Platform binary has been used instead of the typical Java Platform SE binary that I'm used to seeing, it consumes 50% of my RAM on its own sitting on the main title screen(the rest of the ram usage is other processes open). It settles at about 85% when I stay on the title screen. I crash trying to load single player worlds, hitting 100% RAM usage, no matter how simple or complex the customization is. Worlds that I manage to get into lag horribly. This happens with optifine being used, and also without it. I have 8GB RAM and that has never been maxed out from Minecraft unless I'm loading an insane amount of mods. I loaded up version 1.15 and it had drastically reduced RAM usage and lag, only reaching 67% memory after loading into a new world with the same settings. I loaded up 1.16 and it also never peaked beyond 67% on title screen or in a world. I did not change anything between taking the screenshots I have listed other than opening each version of Minecraft individually to screenshot. It's insane that my computer can run crazy intense games just fine and any other version of minecraft, modded or not, but then crash from loading vanilla minecraft 1.17.1. The versions for each screenshot are according to their names. I have been playing the java versions of minecraft for years on this same computer without issue. This is the only version that has done this to this degree. This Ram issue the new binary platform is creating is unacceptable.
