Sorry if the summary was confusing, but basically my friend and I were playing on our server and we had left the nether. The nether portal took me back to our home portal, the only one we've built, but took my friend to a completely new portal nowhere near our house. I teleported to him, and we went back through the portal, and it took us to our nether base. We went through the portal again and it took us back to the random portal. We broke the portal and used /kill to go back home and then it was fine.
