When an item is dropped on the ground and picked up again, the inventory does not show the picked up item. For example: If you have 16 blocks of dirt, press Q to drop one, the number goes down to 15.
When you step forward to pick it up, the number remains at 15.
Only once you open the inventory and move the item does the number update correctly.
(If the attached video resolution is not sufficient, I have also uploaded the original quality video to YouTube here)
Steps I followed to reproduce:
- Start the game using the Experimental Snapshot 3 (installed according to the instructions provided by Mojang)
- Create new World (Game mode = Survival)
- Dig up a few blocks of dirt or sand
- Press "Q" to drop a single item
- Notice that the amount of blocks in the hotbar was reduced by 1
- Step forward to pick up the dropped item
- Notice that the dropped item is "picked up", but the inventory does not show the picked up item
- Open the Inventory and move the item from one slot to another
- Notice that as soon as the item is selected in the inventory, the number is updated
Notes:
- If you discard all of the items by pressing Q repeatedly then pick up all the items again, the hotbar slot will show blank. If you click in the blank slot where the item used to show it will show up again as expected.
- If you throw all items, pick them up, save and quit then reload your game again, the item will appear in the inventory as expected.
