This has been the case since around 1.9 with the introduction of these sounds. However, I don't think it makes sense for them to be played:
- the sounds are intended for combat scenarios, which breaking boats/minecarts/armor stands is not
- they produce unintuitive subtitles as a result
- paintings and item frames, which are also entities, do not produce them when broken (likely due to them breaking instantly)
This would be fixed by only making these sounds play when attacking a mob, and not when breaking a non-mob entity. Dedicated sounds could be added to replace these if desired.
