It is possible to use a shulker box below the end portal to push yourself into the end to the player's current overworld coordinates. This is consistently possible in 1.16.5 and inconsistently possible in 21w13a.

Step 1: Complete End Portal and break lava and surrounding blocks below it.

Step 2: Place shulker box in the center block of the staircase under a portal frame, opening away from the staircase.

Step 3: Stand centered on the block in front of the shulker box so that the shulker box pushes you when opened.

Step 4: Open the shulker box, this will teleport the player to the end at the current overworld coordinates.

This bug allows players to enter the end outside of the expected platform, and oftentimes allows access to the outer islands directly. Often, the player will either fall into the void or suffocate inside of an island due to the typical Y level of strongholds. It is technically possible to do before any player has entered the end for the first time, as shown in the supplied screenshots, but would not be possible in regular survival gameplay due to the requirement of a shulker box.
