it seems that at high viewing angles of partly transparant textures such as grass or leaves causes the transparency to be replaced by black.
this only occurs when mipmap levels are set to one or more
the higher the mipmap level the more pronounced the effect is
Interesting note this does not occur with glass or varients there of
