When removing music discs from a jukebox, they tend to fly out. Sometimes, they simply land on top, but other times they fly blocks away. If there is air above the jukebox and a block above that, they fly even further. In addition, they also tend to strongly favor the major axes when they fly out, so they rarely travel diagonally.

To reproduce, simply go in creative mode and hold right click on a jukebox with a music disc. You'll notice that some of them go flying several blocks away. If you do it for long enough, you'll notice that they only tend to land on the major axes. If you really want them to go flying like crazy, place a solid block a block above the jukebox so that there is still an airspace above the jukebox.

      More information

In 21w15a, they seem to favor travelling north and south much more than east and west. See picture.
