Though the snapshot information says that End portal strongholds now generate with stone surrounding, geode generation can still cut into the stronghold and possibly the portal. The world I found has a geode cutting into the stronghold very near the portal, but not in it -  I'm just concerned this might happen in other worlds and actually break the portal, which I believe is what this change was trying to avoid in the first place.
