The new snapshot gave us awesome new caves and modified mineshaft generation so that pieces of them don't generate if they wouldn't have support. That's cool, but large fossil structures did not get the memo and, if generated in a large cavern, can be entirely floating. Attached is a screenshot of an example, with seed and coordinates included.
