Minecraft black screening (possibly when near mountains/big structures/stairs)

      When near large structures or stairs, my screen randomly goes black for 2-10 seconds. This has been happening for a while. Some issues I've tried include updating my graphics drivers, allocating more memory to my game, and reinstalling java. This has been happening for about 6 months now.
