Spawnpoint far from the ender island

What I expected to happen was...:
Spawn in the end without dying instantly.

What actually happened was...:
When we enter the end, sometimes we spawn far from the ender island, and the enderdragon instantly kill us

Steps to Reproduce:
Enter the end

MC-1821 When I entered the end I spawned on a 1 deep 6x6 obsidian platform 47 blocks away from the end stone land mass. Right over the abyss
