In snapshots 20w45a and 20w46a, villagers will not pick up food. Whether you drop it or use a dropper to drop it, the food will not be picked up by any villagers. I have tried bread, carrots, and beetroots. None have been picked up by the professions of Cartographer, Farmer, Butcher, Toolsmith, and Librarian.
