If a an amethyst crystal of any growth stage that is attached to the head of a sticky piston is extended and retracted quickly, (2 redstone ticks) the amethyst crystal disappears as the sticky piston retracts. It doesn't drop anything, play the broken sound, or have the particles. It only happens if the crystal is attached directly to the stick piston head.
