I have a datapack in which the health attribute is reduced and increased during certain events, with the help of regeneration in order to fill the red hearts again, however, if health attribute is decreased, when increased again, the hearts stay black and do not fill with red until you leave the world and join again, and they're red. They don't update to red even with regeneration and gaining health attribute,
