When I was playing Minecraft, I found that every so often I would find an invisible hostile mob (passive mobs may apply as well, but I don't know). In the video I recorded you can see a invisible skeleton attacking and you can also see a perfectly visible skeleton, so I know it wasn't a resource pack glitch. This also applies to other hostile mobs, but they weren't recorded.
