The issue I'm having is that when I'm in one area for a prolonged period of time after which when I go past an area where the edge of the chunk distance was ,there tends to be lot's of grass that has decayed into dirt.  This issue occurred on my server so I'm not sure if the issue would occur on single player. The screenshot of the map shows the extent of this issue more clearly.

What I expected to happen was...:
There to be no grass to be decayed at the chunk boarder.

      What actually happened was...:
Large patches of grass decayed at the chunk boarder.

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Stand in one area / work in one area for a prolonger period of time.
      2. Stay in the area for a few hours.
      3. After a few hours check the edge of the loaded area
