I have several different minecraft instances. I wrote a script to keep all my resource packs in one directory and create symbolic links to each pack in each of my minecraft installations. I discovered the resource packs do not appear in-game.

      Steps to reproduce:

      1. Create a symbolic link from a resource pack file in a different location to the resourcepacks/ directory in a minecraft installation
        • For example: cp -s /home/user/Downloads/pack.zip /home/user/.minecraft/resourcepacks/pack.zip
      2. Launch Minecraft. The resource pack does not show up in the resource pack selection screen.
