My Minecraft keeps crashing with an EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005).
It seems to happen way more often on local worlds (sometimes seconds within loading into said world, or even during loading) and so frequently, it renders the game unplayable.
On a server, the game doesn't just run that much faster, the crashes are also far less frequent.
Sometimes it would allow me to view the error report, sometimes the launcher wouldn't know anything about it, and I would have to search the report myself, out of it's folder. Sometimes the game would even crash with an EXCEPTION_ILLEGAL_INSTRUCTION, but that seems to be rare.
I have had this issue for months, and all sorts of Minecraft versions, inlcuding the current 1.16.1 release. I researched and tried all the typical troubleshooting steps, including:
- Updating my graphic drivers
- Reinstalling my graphic drivers (Even with DDU!)
- Installing/Reinstalling Java and even getting the game to use said Java, rather than it's bundled Java
- Trying out different Java versions
- Reinstalling the game/launcher itself
- Performing a memory test - my RAM seems to be fine!
- Updating my BIOS
- Updating my chipset drivers
- Giving the game more RAM to work with (currently 6GB)
Here is the interesting part - this issue seems to be connected to my new graphics card.
Whenever I remove my current GPU and replace it with my old one, including the older drivers, the game runs just fine. For context - my old card is an AMD Radeon R9 230
, and my new one is an Nvidea GTX 1650. Meaning the drivers are also completely different ones.
I will include some of the crash logs, aswell as my dxdiag information in the attachments, just to be thorough.
