After unloading and reentering the chunks with the zombie or a drowned holding an item zometimes the zombie disappears and loses it's hitbox. It can still scare villagers and attack, but a player cannot hit it. The picture below was taken with hitboxes enabled and the drowned was hitting me. After I relogged the drowned appeared.

I can't seem to be able to recreate it, so it probably happens randomly.
